The Chroma Orb

90% of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities will be sexually abused in their lifetime. Not because they don’t understand consent, but because the world never gave them a way to see it.

For those with Down syndrome and Fragile X syndrome, the unspoken rules of consent remain unspoken. While most people absorb these through pop culture, they rely on structure, repetition, and above all – visual cues.

So, we created Chroma Orb, a color-based language built into Netflix that gives them the tools to navigate consent. Because a more inclusive world starts with seeing the signs - clearly.

Problem:

90% of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities will be sexually abused at some point in their lives. The cause? They are denied accessible sex education. While the world learns about sex and consent through pop culture, they are left to read between the lines which more often than not they find hard to.

Insight:

For people with Down Syndrome and Fragile X Syndrome sex education exists in a language they can’t decode. They are expected to navigate a world of unspoken rules – yet they understand it through visual cues and repetition.

Solution:

Introducing the Chroma Orb. A visual, colour-based language built into Netflix that makes the meaning behind what they’re watching clear – through colour, not words.
